I was born in London, UK, although my mother was Australian. I now live in Bendigo, Australia with my partner in a house ruled by a cat and two dogs.
My first camera was part of a Secret Agent Briefcase that I was given as a present when I was 5 or 6 years old - this was in the days when the first James Bond movies were popular. I think the briefcase also had a gun (toy) and a walkie-talkie but I don't really remember. What I do remember vividly is the bitter disappointment I felt when I got my first roll of film developed and every shot was completely fogged because the camera leaked light so badly. :(
Some years later I got my first 'proper' camera - a Nikon EM. It was fully automatic but used 35mm film and produced good results. This led me to other Nikons with manual controls as I desperately wanted to have some control over how the pictured turned out. This in turn led me to developing my own pictures - first in black and white, then colour slides and later colour prints. The shot to the left (or above if you are using a mobile phone) is the oldest picture I still have in my possession. It dates from 1981 and is a winter scene looking across the road from where I lived in London. It is a black and white picture that I developed, printed and toned in sepia myself.
In my 30s I experienced some troubles in my life and sold all my equipment apart from one camera which I gave to my mother for an 'around the world' trip she was undertaking. I also, for reasons surpassing my understanding now, disposed of virtually all my photographs.
These days I use Canon and of course everything is digital. Perhaps because I'm 'old school' or simply just 'pigheaded' (I won't divulge which my wife thinks) but I have never used Adobe Photoshop. I much prefer to do things 'in camera' although I do use an old graphics program (Corel Photopaint v7) to get rid of dustmarks, adjust the contrast (Canon cameras never seem to be contrasty enough for me) and other minor odds and ends.
Most of what I know about photography is self-taught (a neat phrase which hides a multitude of appalling photographs as I was 'self-teaching'!) although some years ago I did a course in Studio Photography at RMIT in Melbourne for which, and I know I am boasting, I got a High Distinction. Which seems to be a good place to end this ....

All photographs are supplied "ready to frame" meaning they are professionally mounted in a mat with a 5mm or 3mm thick backing board (depending on size). The largest size available is a 30"x20" (75x50cm) print in a 36"x24" (90x60cm) mat and is 7mm thick including the backing board. Full pricing and sizing details are available here.
Unfortunately giving an email address on a website makes it easy for automated "bots" to capture the address for spam emails and much as I'd love to hear from you I don't want to be swamped by spam.

There is no facility for a "shopping cart" or other web-based ordering facility on this site partly because its nice to make human contact in this modern age of sterile automation but mostly because I didn't know how to do it - I'm a photographer not a web programmer! Getting this site to adapt to mobile phones was hard enough ....
